Legit isn’t the same as fair
Search “is Hertz legit?” and you’ll be told yes. That’s true, and it doesn’t help. What travellers actually want to know is whether they’ll pay what they were quoted, and what happens when something goes wrong. The Fee Gap answers both questions, separately, with a source behind every claim.
What we do
For every company we answer two questions. Is it legit? Who runs it, how long it has traded, and what complaint records show. Will you pay what you were quoted? Five checks scored 1–5: price honesty, claims and refunds, pick-up or delivery, fine print, and support. For rental cars we go a step further and rank the companies at each airport, because the same brand can be fast at one airport and a two-hour queue at the next. The full method is on How we rank.
Who runs it
Nurullah founded Krafties, the studio behind this site, and also runs KraftStories, a hands-on workshop company with studios in New York City and Honolulu. He edits The Hype Gap and two local events guides. He sets the scoring rules and is responsible for every rank on this site.

The Fee Gap is owned and published by Krafties. Krafties is an independent product studio that builds small, honest websites and apps. It is paid for by Krafties. There are no investors, sponsors or advertisers.
- No paid placements. No rental company, booking site or ticket seller can pay to be listed, ranked higher, or have a problem left out.
- No affiliate links. Links go to companies’ own sites and to our sources. We earn nothing when you book.
- Conflicts disclosed. Krafties doesn’t rent cars, sell travel or resell tickets, so it competes with nothing we rank. Neither do its other products, nor KraftStories, the craft workshop company our founder also runs.
Part of a small family of independent guides
The same team publishes these sites. They share one approach: read the primary source, show the real price, and never sell a ranking.
How we keep it honest
Our editorial standards explain where facts come from, how we use software and AI tools, how companies can respond, and how we fix mistakes. If something is wrong, tell us. Corrections are made in the open.
